Hokule'a is the Polynesian name for the navigational star Arcturus. Ancient Polynesian navigators knew Hokule'a as the Star of Joy or Gladness, and used it to guide them in their discovery of the islands known as the PolynesianTriangle.
The Liberty 458 is 1 of only 31 that were built and it has proven itself to be a strong, capable, bluewater cruiser.The hull is handlaminated 24 oz. woven rovins alternated with 1.5 oz. mal producing 13 layers at the rail, 15 layers at the tum of the bilge and 17 layers at the keel. The internal ballast is embedded and fiberglassed into reinforced hull sections. The deck is single unit hand laminated 24 oz. woven roving altemated with 1.5 oz. mat and balsa sandwich core construction.
